Sugar Booger (Boogie)

December 13, 1991 – March 30, 2006

Fourteen years ago Sugar was born to Scooter John (sire) and Molly Bea XII (dam). She was a registered miniature dachshund with the American Kennel Club. We rescued Sugar from the pet store in the spring of 1992. She was chosen by 3 year old Staci with the plea, “Can we get the one with the little feet?”

We have many fond memories of Sugar who brought much joy to our lives. Among the most memorable was her voracious appetite, willingness to dance for people food, and the fearless protection of her family. Following we have the top 5 phrases that Sugar understood:

© “Want some Boogie Food?”
© “Daaance”
© “Go get the squirrels!”
© “Where’s your squeaky?”
© “Daddy’s home!”

Sugar’s favorite pastimes included basking in the sun, chasing backyard squirrels, bounding down the hall after her squeaky toy, sitting on the register, sleeping in Daddy’s sweater, and resting on a warm lap.

Sugar’s health was plagued by many ups and downs throughout the past 7 years. Thursday afternoon Sugar fell under another ‘sicky’ spell. She didn’t eat and was nauseated at the sight of water. She spent most of her last day on Staci’s lap. Last night Shayla noticed that Sugar was lying immobile in her bed. We were able to spend her last hours holding her and telling her goodbye as she lay on Staci’s chest. She was calm, and she never cried. At about 11 o’clock we laid her in her bed for the night, where she passed peacefully in her sleep.

This picture was taken at 4:04 pm Thursday afternoon. We will miss you, Sugar, all of our love.
