another perfect day

ever have 'one of those days?' the kind where you're completely and utterly bored out of your mind because you never do anything out of the ordinary? well yesterday was definately NOT one of those days. another saturday morning, another peaceful bus ride, another nerve-racking race. pretty textbook, until i drank the 2nd red bull of my career. i'll be honest, i wasn't feeling it. what a shame, my system is already immune to the effects of the bull. ah well on to bigger and better things... (heh heh take from it what you will) i ran varsity at shawnee heights yesterday. i ran 14:54 and got 60th. i've decided i like running jv better. highlights from the meet: "is it raining?"-me "...this is stupid, it's not like they don't know where its coming from."-Tcass "i think the one on the end looks smaller." -melissa

after that adventure, i showered and went on the annual trip to sam's club with my mom, grandma, & shay. one word, samples. i really, really like sam's. we don't have a membership b/c we would splurge everytime we go. my grandma has one though, so we use her. hey its just once a year. so after a few hours there, i went with shayla to her appartment. after hauling her groceries in through the rain (hurricane), we had pizza bites and mini corn dogs complete with A1 sauce. so good. we made chocolate chip cookies and settled in to watch 6 days 7 nights. about 9:30 my mom came to pick me up. so basically, everything was flooded on the drive home. we'd been traversing our way through many streams in my mom's brand new toyota corolla, when suddenly, mid-river our car dies. after sitting there for a few long seconds in disbelief, my mother dear breaks the silence, "oh my gosh, my feet are getting wet." being the claustrophobic-seen-it-in-the-movies-being-trapped-under-water-is-my-worst-fear-(next to needles and elevators) girl that i am, that's all the assurance i needed to get out of the car. as soon as i pushed my door open, cold water poured through the opening. i stepped out and the water was above my knees. so we basically waded past the sidewalk that was covered and then to someone's driveway & called my dad to come get us. there was another car that got stuck behind us, and the cops came and blocked off the road and all that. it was crazy. crazy stuff that you think will never happen to you happens. i was just amazed that something finally happened to me. one of those things that's big & you'll never forget it. but it's ok, and you can laugh about it because no one got hurt. it was actually kind of fun. not for the corolla...*EDIT* we found out today that its totaled. yep, dead. good ole insurance should cover it though, no worries.
