reliving las FIESTAs

http://www.betterthanezra.com/bte.html
^ check it out, my new favorite song by bte 'a lifetime'

party #1. elena. packed out dude. loooots of people, some i knew some i didn't. it was a good time though.
party #2. jayne/maddie/melissa. outside....but they made it work. didn't stick around too long, but it was still cool. highlight of the party: catching paul wear the same outfit that he did to elena's party.....oh yea and him catching me wear the same outfit that i wore at elena's....nice.
party #3. jacob/chris. awesome. that party gets four stars ****! the food was perfect, right down to the frozen?? peaches maybe. how can you go wrong with harley davidson? ah yes and there were some unusually attractive 50 year olds at this party....just kidding, maybe.
party #4. tiffany (my sister....in law...sort of) belland. it was more of a family/family friends affair. but that's what we are so we fit right in. the 5' by 4' black and gold cake was memorable.
party #5. craig & thomas. fabulously crowded! arrived and chilled on the patio for a while. i eventually upgraded to the house where ben and i got to know each other 'if you know what i mean.' (i'm thinking really hard and i don't remember who said that in the first place or why, but it was hilarious.) about this time we left for party #6, then returned to the congdon's. we hit the basement, had some interestingly painful times, and our little pow wow eventually made it home.
party #6. brittney vanderhart. mansion. intimidatingly awesome. white carpet, dimond (painted :) walls, incredible basement, L-shaped pool, perfect sunsets porch, rock path through the wilderness from backyard to front, the works.
party #7. ben & nathan. very cool, lots of people that i knew this time, that always makes it fun. hahaha, i just remembered the water on shane action that took place. it wasn't very funny at the time, but think about it....heh heh. a little confusion about where to go after everyone left, so our stay at the mooneyhams was....prolonged ;)
party #8. jenny/ashley/jessica/ruth. wow, hello clarion. highlights....getting attacked (twice) by the killer dog on the runway strip....lol, the trampoline, nathan's encounter with the door, of course dancing....or lack thereof. then the crandall's house was next on the list. good group of kids there :) left with nate after learning how to tie a tie, looking at pictures and such.
party # ........wait we're done?? yesssss. thanks everyone for partyin it up with me!

Dr. Eloquent

el·o·quent ( P ) Pronunciation Key (l-kwnt)adj.
Characterized by persuasive, powerful discourse

Well today I restarted my drumming journey. A couple of days ago (woah, napoleon flashback: 'Pedro how long did it take you to grow that mustache?' 'uhhh a couple of days.') so a couple of days ago my mom called Dr. Tom Morgan to schedule some drum lessons for me. So basically I was slighty psyched out because Dr. Morgan wrote the books that I used to practice out of...yea. He's pretty much the big kahuna of drums. 300 o'clock this afternoon i was pretty darn nervous. Then we met him and i noted that he's approaching 50, and he's a nice fella. He cracked a few jokes here and there (always a winner in my book) but only one worth mentioning. I was feeling a little embarrassed since I hadn't played in a few years. I was rusty. So Tommy boy is refering to one the drum books he'd written and he says, 'as the author so eloquently stated.... a count is a number and an "and". ' Hahaha...he is the author....uh yea.
Sorry kids but AIM is completely ruining my blog time, blame charles for the sabotage.

tribute to 'EE' endress

hmm, well it's basically over friends. only 3 hours of fun filled tower power left! endress was so adorable today, yes even more than usual. during the last 7 minutes of chemistry...ever :(... freeze and i played a hardcore round of the number game in elena's honor (we even used EE's, (ex: "7 E eeeee negative fourteen!") lol elena you would've been proud.) then as we were waiting during about the last 10 seconds of class, andrea and i were just thinking about how we'd never see him again, since he'll be leaving the school next year. so as we walked by his desk and out of his life forever, we shook his hand. still mantaining his sarcastic twist on life endress looked into my eyes and said, "miller, smile more and quit spitting on people!" by 'quit spitting', he meant i ought to stop displaying my amazing skills in the liquid form, commonly known as a bubble. chyea...like that's going to happen. then as i was processing this nugget of wisdom, i faintly hear, "and freeze, quit being so scared!" ohhh yes i will miss that man greatly. even though i would never reveal my undying love for endress, for fear of the look, i will say that he has impacted my life in more ways than one, and i will never forget him.

its the teachers!

and the beat goes on...meaning i still feel sad that i won't be seeing these people on a regular basis anymore. but then when i did see them on a regular basis, our relationships were bound by the itineraries of our teachers. sure we talked and chilled during the few spare minutes of class, but then ms. pepperdinkle (fictional character) is back at it. since my last post i have come to the conclusion that this is the reason for our mixed emotions. the fact that teachers shrink down to mere human beings, not the powerhungry dictators that they'd previously been. they have nothing to teach us during finals week, so now we get a chance to sit back, relax and converse with our buds. this happy time takes place in the classroom, therefore giving us mixed messages that classrooms are fun. they're not! i for one say... summer time? bring it on.

what's this...the end?

today was one of the saddest days of the year. we only have 5 days left of that towering campus. some seniors have 1 day left, but the majority of them left today, for-e-ver. not really but i mean i won't be seeing most of them for ages, if ever again. seriously, i was so sad today starting right after 1st lunch, i just felt empty, drained, weak. it's like all of the seniors had gone and they took every last joule of energy in the building with them. the building was so quiet and peac....yea right! this is such a bitter sweet period in our lives. we've been waiting for this summer all year. it's finally (almost) here! basically to describe today, all i can say is you don't know what you've got till its gone. but then when its there, you don't take advantage of it and enjoy every last breath you take in the presence of such amazing people. you sit there in agony saying, "only 40...16...5 more days, we can make it guys." i think this is the best time of the year, because it is in the last week before summer that you learn to 'suck the marrow' out of your life. starting tomorrow we rush down memory lane with '05 yearbooks (and 5 pages of extra signature paper) in hand, emotions running high. to the high school student, summer is day, school is night, the week before summer is the sunrise, and the week before school starts up again is the sunset. the dawn of a glorious day is on the horizon, enjoy the last stretch.

the festivities they call prom

bonjour! if i've ever said that it's been a while, i lied. i guess 3 weeks was about enough. sooo prom was the best. i mean, it was killer! around 5:30 nate came over with his parents for our photo shoot. by the way, they all turned out fabulous. (check the xanga for 2 of them) aaand the snapshots commenced. so we were going to go to an italian place (don't remember the name) but then we decided to stick with something we knew. Blind Tiger. it was soooo good!! i think it could be my new favorite restaurant...i know major commitment there, but it could be. we had steak and loaded baked potatos, mmmm. there were a lot of other prom people there as well.

after our gourmet meal we hit reed underwood's house for some creme brulee. {crème brû·lée ( P ) Pronunciation Key (krm br-l)n. A custard with a crust of caramelized sugar.} i just tried it because it has a major role in one of my favorite movies, My Best Friend's Wedding. cameran d & julia roberts have the most priceless conversation invented....

"see kimmy, suppose michael is at a restaurant and the waiter brings him creme brulee. but michael doesn't want creme brulee."
"what does michael want?"
"....jello."
"jello!? why does he want jello?"
"bbe, because....he's comfortable with jello."
"i could be jello..."
"hahah, no, you can't be jello."
"no, i could be jello! i HAVE to be jello!"
"NO KIMMY, creme brulee could never be jello! YOU COULD NEVER BE JELLO!"

lol!!! if you've seen that movie you know how hilarious that dialogue is. and if you haven't you realllllly should! where was i, ah yes prom. so i decided i like jello better too. so we went from reed's to prom. we checked our belongings.....ugh.....and grooved our way to the dance floor. it was really a lot of fun! they had a lot of different types of songs, it was the bomb diggidy! although there were a few "modernistic" style dancers near us. hahah, oh wow yea that was dis-cus-ting! so after pretty much everyone was gone we reluctantly left the cafeteria. so we had to get nate's coat and my purse before we could go change for after prom. to our surprise we were greeted with a line as long as the ones for the mamba. we waited from 11:30 to 12:30 to get OUR OWN BELONGINGS back. so we were pretty wiped out, frusterated, discouraged by the time we got our stuff. we then went to nathan's to slip into something a little more comfortable....uh jeans, if there was any confusion there.

i think we got to after prom about 1ish. then we got our 'passports' and our free afterprom t-shirts. we looked around the gym and everywhere for a while. i was pretty overwhelmed. if we hadn't been so tired, i think it could've been a lot of fun, but alas. they had some blow up games, a casino, and movies and stuff. but we both agreed that we could have just as much fun someplace else. so we went back to his casa for some early morning tv. he took me home about 4:30, i got to bed at 5 and i only slept until 10 am, count them, 5 hours. i heard my parents getting ready and then i faintly heard to words "mothers day" come from my own dear mother's mouth. i was so tired, but i waited in bed until they left for church, and i got up, went to dillons, bought my mom a card and some chocolate, and laid down again (the relief of sleep had been lost). and thus concludes my prom experiences.

Bona Fide {bo·na fide} - Authentic; genuine

well friends, it's been too long. actually no, i've seen you all pretty recently. so i guess that goes for you moobert, it's been too long. so sunday was pretty much the best day of my life. seriously, i haven't had that good of a day in for-e-ver! i guess that's just b/c justin, my favorite cousin in the world, came to my house. we pretty much grew up together. playing our little imaginary games with 'trey & jennifer,' chillin en mi casa, making secret handshakes, texas vacations, one sweet month in washington, and most importantly...hoopin' it up in my driveway! ah yes, so yesterday...i went to sunday school, saw most of you all, then to 'big church' with my family since my grandparents are in town. then they met justin, my aunt kim, & step-cousin kristen at the house; meanwhile my mom, dad, & i went to the tbc pasta bar *which was fabulous by the way* and on a side note, my mom bid on a group of fellas to work for us...so uh yea nathan is in that group. isn't that hilarious? not to mention extremely embarrassing for me, but the humor outways the embarrassment, so it's all good. soooanyway, sunday was stellar b/c me, justin, my dad, aaron, my grandpa, and step cousin kristen played some hardcore 21. it was pretty competitive. aaron dominated us all. i guess it was just awesome b/c my best memories with justin were when we were hoopin it up. it was like i could've been out there at age 10 (and i was) or 16, there was no difference. just an amazing time, that's how i can explain it.

well monday i don't remember what happened at all, tuesday we had a soccer game vs. west. we lost 4-0. but it was pretty fun over all. yesterday, i skipped rubbish to have a night on the town with the fam. aaaaaand since they all wanted to meet nate, he was there as well. we went to the mongolian barbeque in lawrence. it was pretty darn good. i was a little concerned about nathan, and what he might be thinking throughout the whole ordeal though. oh goodness, obviously all families are pretty strange in their own way. and, i must admit, i am extremely grateful to have a family that i'm proud of. especially on nights like the last. for the most part, everything was smooth sailing. so, shoutout to any of my family members that may be hacking this site *coughshaycough*........thanks for being super-cool! hehe

today, dun dun dun, i have some exciting news for you all!!! i had an extraordinarily humorous dialogue in 7th hour. before i begin, i must describe my chemistry teacher, mr. endress. endress is the THS football coach, a husky fella. endress loves to joke around. endress isn't your typical comedian. endress likes to make fun of people. endress is the most sarcastic teacher you'll ever meet. (although, titus comes in 2nd) endress likes to stare you down and make you feel stupid with a face that says 'this stupidity is not worth my time, but i have to look at you now because i'm slightly amused.'

allright, and we're off....wait one more thing {kryptonite: any surviving fragment of the exploded mythological planet Krypton, home of Superman} so my favorite lab partner in the world, andrea freeze (she's the most genuine napolean you'll ever meet, she doesn't use kip's voice, or quote supercool lines from the movie, she doesn't have to. she is just that cool. she comes up with outrageous lines of her own. okok, here's the best one...so one day me, elena, & freeze made plans to watch napoleon together, so we wrote down each other's phone #s, i wrote theirs on my hand, and andrea earnestly looked me in the eye with a concerned expression on her face, and then she said, "will it wash off????" chyea) so anywho, today, andrea and i were peacefully working on our lab (so i thought) but then andrea calls endress over to discuss our mistakes. always a lovely time. then, i habitually start to crack my knuckles when i glance up to find the most sour face that endress has ever beheld.

endress: "miller, please, this is like kryptonite to superman."
mwa: "oh yea...just like that?" (sacarasm aimed at the fact that he looks nothing like superman)
endress: *fires a face that could kill in my direction*
{HOLD UP~~at this point you must know that i'd previously written 'data & calculations' diagonally on our lab sheet, before endress graced us with his presence.}
endress: "nice diagonal titles, who drew those?"
me: "whaaa diagonal titles....eh?" *pretty confused as you might imagine*
endress: "miller, do you know what diagonal means??"
me: * embarrassed * "uh yes......"
endress: *looking down, shaking his head in a way that says 'why do i put up with children'
me: *picking up the vibe that he is at a loss for words, i sarcastically chime,
"so uh, is this some more of that kryptonite to superman action?"
endress: *smiles that unbearable smile where he can hardly control his frusteration*
"miller, you are a bona fide smart a** "
*andrea & i are a little taken back by the bluntness of this man*
endress: "that's right, millerfreeze, i used foul language in front of you."
me&andrea: "millerfreeze???"
endress: "that's right....just like some kind of 2 headed monster, millerfreeze."

and thus concludes the dialogue of the week. i want you all to realize that i share these dialogues with you so that you may understand what people are really thinking. because i have a gift, and i can tell you. yes that's what i said...i can read minds. ok i'll stop because i know what you're thinking right now. something like, *ok so um the bragging is not so cool, and deep down i'm jealous, and...i wonder if she really does know what i'm thinking.*
THE END

recipe for memories...root beer & hot sauce!

hmm i didn't know 'getting into my mind' was such a treat for some of you...ok yea i admit, i have a lot of fun being me. maybe someday i'll make a post 'why i am the way i am'...so you can look forward to that. actually no, that won't happen b/c i can't just give it all away. hehehe.

oh my gosh. so i did have a splendid time at rubbish last night, as usual. i think these new devotional books will be good. hopefully i'll be able to stick with it. so we really do have some good conversations in the prelude huh nate? wow i can't decide if those were a great couple of hours, or terrible. hmm, well i still think it's grodie, but i don't really care. i mean it's not like my opinion of you has changed. ok yes, yes it is. just because i don't think 'being funny' is the extent of the whole shindig. today i was having this chat with hannah and we decided that none of the t-high guys would be caught dead with that on their record. but as i hear it's different for christian guys....chyea. but it's cool i guess, overall it was fun, and we just might have to finish that conversation some time.

today wasn't too bad. we had our 2nd game tonight vs. leavenworth. we tied 0-0. they were a little more tallented than hiland park. but yea i made sure that i wasn't the last one out of the bathroom this time. lol. so no more exciting stories about unexpected encounters today. so i did head a ball at the game that was kicked from about 30 yeards away. and my form was alllll wrong, and it hit the top of my head, and the ball went the wrong way, so that hurt just a little. and 2 girls had just taken a knee b/c the ball hit them in the face. so...i guess it wasn't that bad, but embarrassment is the worst kind of pain. oh my goodness, so after the game, my parents hooked me up with a ride home from the kaberlines. and andrea freeze just wanted in on the action, so she came too. it was sooo much fun. we stopped in bonner springs on the way home for a little taco john's. oh yea, it was right next to the goodwill, and i totally wanted to check it out, but i mean katie's dad wouldn't have enjoyed that very much. so anyway when we were at taco johns katie and andrea where talking about something so hilarious (i can't remember exactly what, darn) and i was cracking up!! and i had a pleasant mixture of root beer and hot sauce come up my nose...and basically my nose was on fire and i couldn't breathe. hahaha, it's so awesome that it's the little things that make you happiest. i look back now and wonder what on earth could've been so funny that any and all liquid in me went through my nose. oh well tonight goes down in the books as something i never expected to happen when i woke up this morning, but it was the highlight of my day. gotta love it!

the questionable rendezvous

today has been interesting, i suppose. so i decided i should blog. mainly b/c i want to tell the story of my questionable rendezvous with 3 black girls in the 1st floor bathroom at t-high. i think me and my soccer buddies reenacted my experience about 3 times before our game. it was so funny.

ok so i left spanish 3 at 2:10 to get dressed for our first soccer game. i went into the 1st floor women's restroom to change. i greeted a few of my soccer pals who were changing as well, and basically all was going on as usual. andrea & katie left and as i was putting my hair up, everyone trickled out into the main hallway. so as i'm standing there in front of the mirror, 3 shaniquas (wow, that probably isn't politically correct) roll into the bathroom. i know what you're thinking..."that's typical staci, you do go to topeka high" and that's exactly what i thought too, at first. the unusual part was that i was majorly outnumbered, and they all just waltzed in and sat there on the sinks watching me (yes the sinks). so i continue with my task, while my mind lingers on their motives. when suddenly, they speak.................. you might read it first without the naratives in parenthesis.

goon #1: "you gettin all pretty fo yo game?" (in reference to my hair obsession)

me: "uhhhh, he...he, yea" (about now, i think it's humorous that she is trying to make small talk)

goon #1: "what fo?"

me: "well...it has to go up sometime" ('it' being my hair)

goon #1: "it does?"

goons # 2&3: *snickering*

me: ".....yes" (about this time i am becoming aware of the controlled hostility in her tone)

goon #1: "why?!"

me: "it'll get in my face" (by this time i was working on the finishing touches)

goon #1: "well.....it's up!" ('it' still being my hair)

me: "yes, yes it is." (thinking 'that is definately my cue')

goons #2&3: *small talk in the background*

me: *grabbing my bags and making an exit as painlessly as possible*

goon #1: *staring me down with curiously hateful eyes*

and that concludes the most awkward dialogue of my week, by far. gotta love being a white girl at topeka high school. i apparently don't have much experience with crowds of black girls. just thought i'd share a little insight to the way my mind works.

the glamorous lifestyle of...staci lynn miller

well the last couple of days have been pretty good. i think crandall said it best once when we were still in school, "the thing i'm looking forward to the most, is being able to eat whenever i want to." lol, not that i've just been pigging out all spring break, but the freedom is the best part. to be in town & do whatever i feel like doing, without limitations. i guess that was only ironic for andrew b/c he was heading off to florida...me on the other hand, well eating really was all i had to look forward to. no, there were some other things.

yesterday i watched the tube for a couple hours. hello VH1! i watched 'the glamorous lifestyle of...angelina jolie' and 'the glamorous lifestyles of...victoria & david bekham' it was pretty fun! then, i went with my mom to shay's and then we picked up my grandma, and we had a girls luncheon at the olive garden. so delicious! after that, we rolled over to kohls, where we spent to next 3 hours....i bought (by that i mean my mom bought me) some new clothes and such. then we dropped gram off and browsed the goodwill after shayla dropped off her donations. (nathan i am so hooked) i found a fabulous 'washburn-school of law' t-shirt. after dinner en la casa, shaylala and i went to dillons to rent napoleon dynamite. i was having napoleon withdraw. then we made some easter cookies....in the shape of crosses! and basically we didn't have time to watch the movie sooo,

today, i woke up at 9, took my shower, and then gram called me to see if i wanted to go bowling. of course since i'm pretty much a pro bowler, i was all over that one. so i drove to her house and we had lunch at boston market. then we were off to west ridge lanes. we bowled 2 games. 1st game, i got 72 (no comments please), 2nd game i got 120. not too shabby i suppose...meanwhile my 70 year old grandmother threw down a 147, and a 156. she got game! so then...i went to shay's at 1 pm to watch napoleon. i looove kip's face right after he's like, "your mom goes to college..." and right before he says, "...peace out." oh goodness! so i held ashton for a few hours and he was fast asleep the whole time...basically. aaand here i am getting ready to have salmon patty for dinner....that should go over well, since i love fish and everything.

*** i apologize for the lack of entertainment that you received from this blog. but that's just how eventful my spring break has been...the end ***
